n addition to our normally scheduled operations, the Public Works Department provides a number of special services and programs for residents. For more information on any of the items listed below, please contact us at (954) 535-2815.

Community Outreach

Our Public Works professionals are available to conduct educational presentations for your community group, association or school on topics such as tree trimming, disaster preparedness, naturescaping, recycling and hazardous household waste.

Disaster Mitigation & Preparedness

The Public Works Department conducts disaster mitigation projects such as canal dredging, swale maintenance and catch basin cleaning to ensure the City is prepared in the event of a major storm. In addition, our crews are some of the first people out on the road after a storm, clearing debris and attending to damaged infrastructure so that the City may return to normal operation as quickly as possible.

Hazardous Household Waste Collection

Every year, the City hosts a hazardous household waste collection event, allowing residents to conveniently rid their homes of dangerous items such as pesticides, combustibles, and oil. All collected items are properly disposed of by Broward County. If you would like to be notified of upcoming collections, please click here to subscribe.

Home of the Quarter Award

The Lauderdale Lakes Beautification Advisory Board conducts a "Home of the Quarter Program" to recognize property owners whose individual properties reflect their community pride and have an aesthetically pleasing appearance. The board tours one neighborhood each Quarter to select the "Home of the Quarter." Residents are also welcome to nominate a home by completing our online form. Awards are given to both single- and multi-family properties. Winners receive a plaque, a $100 gift certificate to Home Depot and acknowledgement at Commission Meeting.
